Caterpillars and Butterflies

Caterpillars and Butterflies

The caterpillar an ugly creature, likened to a slug. It inches along leafy foundations. Moving at a slow pace. Like a Christian in the season of it’s winter it’s soul seems to bare no fruit. As it sheds it’s outer layer, a cocoon enshrouds the unsightly creature. Not known to the human eye, but the insect dies in this process. Before beauty comes ashes. It is the same with the Christian life, in order to attain eternal security, one must first die to their mortality. The caterpillar dies and becomes a beautiful butterfly. In order to reap the benefits of Christ your fleshly desires need to be crucified. After the Holy Spirit has rid your body of the world’s teachings, you can emerge in Christ. Like the Butterfly we have a mission to witness, to lift up other Christians, and to go into all the world to carry out His message. Do butterflies hang around caterpillars? No they live with other butterflies. Does that mean we never associate with others who have chosen this world? No, for Jesus hung out with sinners, but He refused to cooperate with their sinful behavior. We must commune with our brother’s and sister’s in Christ to get edification for our souls. But when we are to be witnesses, that is when we spread out among the peoples. Butterflies have a short life span, as we believers do not live on this earth very long. We are not of this world, but of our Father in heaven. For once we have become a Christian we are no longer apart of this world, and once we have served our purpose here, we are called home.
